Profilering af nordisk videregående uddannelse og forskning

– Klassifikation og ranking på den nordiske dagsorden

Hvordan kan vi synliggøre og formidle nordiske styrker inden for videregående uddannelse og forskning globalt?

Det vil Danmark som formandskabsland for Nordisk Ministerråd i 2010 sætte fokus på. Derfor afholder Ministeriet for Videnskab, Teknologi og Udvikling i samarbejde med Undervisningsministeriet en konference torsdag den 15. april 2010 i Dansk Design Center, København.

Nordisk Ministerråd satte med lanceringen af det nordiske globaliseringsinitiativ i 2007 fuldt spotlys på betydningen af viden og innovation for Nordens evne til at tiltrække talent og fastholde sin fremdrift og vækst. De nordiske lande indgår sammen med resten af Europa og andre regioner i et globalt kapløb. Et kapløb hvor der vi konkurrerer om viden og dem, som besidder den, og hvor alle søger at beskrive og promovere egne styrkepositioner internationalt.

At synliggøre nordisk kvalitet og styrkepositioner inden for videregående uddannelse og forskning er en væsentlig faktor for, om de nordiske lande klarer sig i konkurrencen om de bedste studerende og forskere på det globale marked for viden. Men hvordan profilerer vi bedst den høje nordiske kvalitet?

I dag anvender man i stigende grad ranking til at vurdere og synliggøre videregående uddannelsesinstitutioners resultater. Men i internationale sammenligninger kan det være svært at dokumentere og dermed profilere de forskelligartede nordiske institutioner og de mange former for kvalitet.

På konferencen ønsker Danmark med udgangspunkt i europæiske tendenser at drøfte international profilering af nordisk kvalitet samt klassifikation og ranking i nordisk perspektiv.

• Hvordan fastholder vi den styrke som diversiteten i det nordiske institutionslandskab er?
• Hvordan dokumenterer og markedsfører vi den høje kvalitet i uddannelse og forskning?
• Hvordan kan de nye europæiske modeller vedrørende klassifikation og ranking bidrage til at profilere nordisk videregående uddannelse og forskning?
• Er der gode argumenter for et nordisk engagement i det europæiske udviklingsarbejde om klassifikation og ranking?
• Hvordan kan konferencen danne udgangspunkt for et videre, fremadrettet fællesnordisk samarbejde på området?

Det er nogle af de spørgsmål, som konferencen søger at finde mulige svar på.

Promotion of Nordic Higher Education and Research

- Classification and Ranking on the Nordic Agenda

How can Nordic strengths within higher education and research be made visible and communicated on a global scale?

This is a question that Denmark wants to bring into focus while holding the presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2010. That is why the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in cooperation with the Ministry of Education are hosting a conference on Thursday the 15th of April 2010 at Danish Design Centre, Copenhagen.

With the launch of the Nordic globalisation initiative in 2007, the Nordic Council of Ministers highlighted the importance of knowledge and innovation for the ability of the Nordic countries to attract talent and maintain progress and growth. Along with the rest of Europe and other regions, the Nordic countries are part of a global reputation race where we compete for knowledge and those who possess it, and where everyone seeks to describe and promote their own positions of strength internationally.

Making visible Nordic quality and positions of strength within education and research is a major factor influencing the competitiveness of the Nordic countries in the competition for the best students and researchers on the global market for knowledge. But what is the best strategy for promoting Nordic the high Nordic quality?

Today rankings are increasingly used to assess and make visible the results of higher education institutions. However, in international comparisons it can be difficult to document and, thus, promote the diverse Nordic institutions as well as the different types of excellence.

Taking a point of departure in European developments, the objective of the conference is to discuss the international promotion of Nordic quality as well as classification and ranking in a Nordic perspective.

• How do we maintain the strength of a diverse institutional landscape?
• How do we document and market the high quality of Nordic education and research?
• How can the new European models for classification and ranking contribute to the promotion of Nordic higher education and research?
• Can good arguments be found in favour of a Nordic involvement in the European development projects on classification and ranking?
• How can the conference serve as a point of departure for a future, joint Nordic effort within this field?

These are some of the questions that the conference aspires to find potential answers to.
